Users review: I am a Star Wars fan since I first saw him in 1977 at the age of thirteen. I saw new hope at least twenty times, hitting back a dozen Empire and Return of the Jedi more than once. I read a lot of novels, and to this day continue to collect toys and figurine. I spent eight hours in line for tickets and place, finally seeing The Phantom Menace first day at 3:00. I wanted to like it, and make every attempt to keep an open mind. But written down I could do. It is just too pathetic.Had film made by someone else, it may not be so important. But George Lucas has always stressed that the effects of the cutting edge are secondary to a good story. It's a shame that someone is him not remind him of that. Ive heard Luke says he does not want to write. Well, it shows. Most of the scenes simply boring, obligatory filler material between the sequences of stunning effects. Rather than describe the nature of the actions and behavior of the delegates scripting tasks to other characters say aloud.Even although the first movie appealed to children and adults, many Phantom Menace defend saying is made just for kids. But it's hard to think of children to take care of the trade dispute. And the level of violence is more appropriate for teens adults. Besides, what would be the reaction of the children in the audience in a few years when their hero Ani grows up, he becomes angry and kills all? Perhaps George Lucas greatest crime was his attempt to explain the force in scientific terms. This is not only contrary to what has been established in other films, but it eliminated the one thing that Star Wars distinguished from the standard science fiction movies - all archetypes fantasy.Although element of the original is here: wide-eyed youth, the wise teacher, helper and alien royal damsel in distress, this time it did not work. Sharp characters and witty dialogue have been replaced with potty humor and pratfalls. This will be the last Star Wars movie I've ever seen.
